My UVB bar went away - what happened?
Please update your app in the App Store or google play store to the most recent version. UVB is also only available for certain portions of the year for people who live above the 35th latitude. In essence - UVB goes away for certain portions of the year when you live above the 35th latitude, but UVA is available year round.
Why are there slight differences in times and UV index between MyCircadianApp & other apps?
All apps rely on algorithms based on various weather metrics to estimate things like sunrise, sunset, and UV index. However, these estimates are just that—approximations. When we built MyCircadianApp in 2024, we carefully analyzed the most reliable data sources and integrated what we believed to be the most accurate estimations, ensuring the app synchronizes seamlessly with the natural cycles of light and UV exposure.
Why doesn’t the level of vitamin D the app says I have made - match with the level of Vitamin D I just had measured on a blood test?
There is no app that can accurately estimate your blood levels of storage D3. Other factors such as stress, dehydration, BMI & infections can alter the amount of storage D3 that shows up on a blood test.
How does LUX impact my health?
Here’s a video that explains how lux impacts your metabolism & ability to sleep - https://youtu.be/AMfZac7sunY
Here’s a playlist that dives deeper into how to use the meter & the other implications for your health - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCMA2NaaCzMVOGjPdzlD6F0Iff4c40KMy
How can I get the most accurate measurement of LUX using the app & why do the readings vary?
The lux meter in the MyCircadianApp is meant to give you an estimate of the light in your environment & light measurements using a phone can be affected by the angle of the camera, reflections & software updates/variations.
For most accurate numbers, ensure that your app is up to date, your camera lens is clean & measure close to your eye level (this is where you are receiving lux in the first place).
Using your phone to measure lux can provide a fantastic general idea of light intensity so that you optimize your light environment daily & in the evening. If you are a professional photographer, filmographer or lighting designer - a dedicated lux meter is always going to be more accurate & have less variables.
